Oceanside Eatery Opts to Feed the Community
Three years ago Tore Trupiano and Ann Perham had a vision. Their vision was to open a small dine in Italian restaurant. Tore, a veteran in the restaurant industry, and Ann, amazing decorating skills, great customer service and attention to detail starting to make their vision a reality. The focus was to create an authentic Italian dine in restaurant. The emphasis was to artistically plate old world and authentic meals.

Cheers to California. Most of our top wines came from this historically great wine country. The upside surprise was the increase in excellence from Paso Robles which rang up four winners. The rest of the 10 also came from the west coast of the U.S. with three from Napa Valley and one each from Sonoma, Walla Walla, Washington, and Escondido.

Napa Valley has just gone to its ace of hearts in a bold effort to appeal to its many customers who, over the years, have traveled to this fabled wine country and had a wine experience unlike any other. Many wineries are offering their coveted cellar library wines at sharply discounted prices if purchased directly online or at the winery.

Taste of Wine: Mangia e Bevi steps up for seniors during pandemic
Last month, I shared with viewers the superiority of San Marzano tomatoes, especially in Italian cooking. I was hoping that there would have been a higher number of tomatoes that were ripe at the time of writing this week’s column. The warm late May/early June temperatures were a shot of lightning. However, the onset of June gloom over the past two weeks has slowed the growing and ripening process. Frank and I decided we would provide an update this week and share ripe San Marzanos on Neapolitan pizza next month.
Mangia e Bevi
So the pizza on the right is the original. The owner saw it, decided he didn’t like it, and replaced it with the pizza on the left. He let us take both. Both slices were good. Mild muzz, good sauce to cheese ratio, and a doughy crust that compliments the other flavors. Not too greasy or floppy. Pretty good.
North County Cares
North County Cares is a program designed by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, the Vista Chamber of Commerce, and the San Diego North Economic Development Council. The purpose of the program is to support both families in need and North County restaurants who have borne the brunt of the impacts of necessary social distancing orders.
